Vacuum Hardening
Hardening in a vacuum furnace heats the part in an oxygen-free chamber, so the surface stays bright and free of scale and the part comes out dimensionally stable. With nothing in the atmosphere reacting with the steel, distortion is lower and the same result repeats batch after batch - which is what machine-tool, aerospace and tooling work from the Peenya belt demands. It is the workhorse process at our Bengaluru unit and, in most routes, the step before tempering. Explore the process →
Vacuum Tempering
Tempering runs straight after hardening and takes the brittleness out of a freshly hardened part while holding the hardness you specified. Doing it under vacuum keeps the surface clean, so nothing gained in hardening is lost. The result is the balance most drawings ask for: hard enough to resist wear, tough enough to survive shock and fatigue in service.
Vacuum Annealing
Annealing softens material and removes internal stress before a part is machined or formed, which is what keeps tool life predictable and dimensions stable on the shop floor. Run in vacuum, the part comes out clean and ready for the next operation instead of needing a pickling step. It is a common first stop for forgings, castings and bar stock heading for a hardening route. Explore the process →
Vacuum Brazing
Vacuum brazing joins an assembly in one clean furnace cycle - heat exchangers, sensor bodies, tool assemblies, multi-part stacks - without flux and without the corrosive residue flux leaves in internal passages. The vacuum cleans the surfaces as the temperature rises, so the filler flows into tight joints and produces a strong, leak-tight connection. Assemblies come out bright and need no post-braze cleaning. Explore the process →
Vacuum Ageing
Ageing is how strength is reached in aluminium, nickel and other precipitation-hardening alloys: a controlled soak that grows the strengthening phases without the distortion of a quench. Under vacuum the surface stays clean and the properties come out uniform across the batch. It is often the final step that locks in the numbers written on the drawing.
Vacuum Stress Relieving
Machining and welding both leave stress locked inside the material, and that stress is what makes a part move after the last cut. Stress relieving in vacuum releases it, so geometry holds through grinding, fitting and assembly. On long or thin parts - shafts, plates, weldments - it is the difference between a component that measures true and one that keeps drifting.
Sub-Zero Treatment
After hardening, some retained austenite never transforms on its own, and it keeps changing dimensions long after the part was measured. A sub-zero cycle takes the part below zero to complete that transformation, which stabilises size and improves wear life. Tooling, gauges and high-precision components benefit most.
Plasma Ion Nitriding
Plasma ion nitriding builds a hard, wear-resistant case on the surfaces that do the work, with minimal distortion because it runs far below hardening temperature. There is no white layer to grind away, so the part keeps its finish, and masked areas stay soft for later machining. Dies, gears and engine components that cannot be re-machined after treatment are the classic candidates.
Low Pressure Nitriding
Low pressure nitriding gives close control over case depth and surface quality by running the process at reduced pressure, cycle after cycle. That repeatability is what production lines need when the same part is treated week after week and case depth is a drawing requirement rather than a suggestion. Explore the process →
Gas Nitriding
Gas nitriding builds a deep, hard case with strong load-bearing support underneath - the combination that lets heavily loaded parts keep running instead of breaking down at the surface. It suits components where the service load is high and the surface has to resist both wear and scuffing.
Vacuum Solutionizing
Solutionizing takes stainless and superalloy parts to the right temperature in vacuum to dissolve the alloying elements, then quenches them into a uniform starting structure. Everything that follows - ageing, machining, service performance - depends on this step being clean and even. Because it runs in vacuum, the surface stays oxide-free and the chemistry at the surface matches the core.

What Vacuum Heat Treatment Does for Your Part
Vacuum heat treatment means heating and cooling metal inside a chamber with the air taken out. With no oxygen present the surface cannot oxidise or decarburise, so parts come out bright, clean and true to size instead of scaled and out of tolerance. That is why vacuum processing has become the default for tools, dies, aerospace hardware and precision components where a finished surface must not be disturbed.
Our Peenya unit brings that capability to Bengaluru's manufacturing belt - vacuum hardening, tempering, annealing, brazing, ageing, stress relieving, sub-zero treatment and three routes for nitriding, all at one address, on controlled cycles, with the record to match.
Materials and Parts We Treat in Bengaluru
We treat tool and die steels, alloy and stainless steels including PH grades, nickel and cobalt alloys, aluminium and titanium alloys, copper and brass, and powder-metal or sintered parts.
Typical work arriving at Peenya: machine-tool and fixture components, sheet-metal tooling, die-casting dies, gears and shafts, pump and motor parts, aerospace hardware, sensor bodies and brazed assemblies, and machined parts that need hardness, wear resistance or dimensional stability before they are fitted.
How a Job Runs at the Bengaluru Unit
- Send the details - part drawing or sample, material grade, required hardness or specification, quantity and required delivery date.
- We review and quote - the team confirms the process route and comes back with a quotation.
- Processing - the parts run in controlled cycles on fully automated vacuum furnaces, with the process parameters recorded.

Areas We Serve Across Karnataka
The unit sits at Peenya Industrial Area, which puts it within easy reach of Peenya, Nelamangala, Bommasandra, Jigani, Electronics City, Hosur Road, Mysore Road and North Bengaluru - and it serves the whole of Karnataka. Batches travel to the Peenya unit from Mysuru, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mandya, Hassan, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Shivamogga, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, Mangaluru, Udupi, Hosapete, Ballari, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, Raichur, Bidar and every other industrial belt in the state, all 32-plus cities of it, on the same class of equipment.
Work also travels in from other states. Whether a batch is accepted from outside Karnataka depends on the nature of the job - the process route it needs, the quality level it calls for and the delivery timeline you require - and when it fits, we take the job and coordinate dispatch back to your plant. Between the group's nine units, vacuum heat treatment coverage runs all over India.
Vacuum Heat Treatment in Bengaluru
Bengaluru is the home of Lakshmi Vacuum, and the Peenya Industrial Area unit operates alongside our vacuum furnace manufacturing floor. The corporate office and Manufacturing Units I and II at Sompura Industrial Area, Nelamangala put furnace building, process development and commercial vacuum heat treatment under one roof for customers across the city's industrial belt.
Job work from the unit runs on an in-house laboratory and fully automated vacuum heat treatment furnaces, so components pass through the same class of equipment that the company builds and commissions for other plants in India. Typical job work covers vacuum hardening and tempering, vacuum brazing, vacuum annealing and stress relieving and vacuum dewaxing and sintering. Details of that equipment range are on the vacuum furnaces page.
Because the unit serves the Peenya Industrial Area and the wider Bengaluru manufacturing belt, it handles both repeat production batches and one-off treatment jobs — for tool and die, aerospace, automotive, medical and general engineering components. Vacuum processing leaves no scale and no decarburisation, so parts come out bright with no post-cleaning and with the dimensional and metallurgical tolerance that critical components demand.
